The Zambian Workshop begins

The Cornell workshop on agricultural information began two nights ago. The photo above shows the introductions at the welcome dinner. The participants come from South Asia, Europe, North America and many countries in Africa. The conference site is at the Chrismar Hotel just outside of Livingstone, Zambia. The weather is hot with heavy rain at night. The days are sunny and intense.

The 40 or so participants have signed up for one of nine topic areas and will spend the week coming up with potential proposals for the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to consider. Everyone has been energized by this challenge.
