Our student army

One of the sub-projects we have is the collection of data from farmers regarding their access to information about agricultural issues. We decided the best way to accomplish this was to get students from Haryana's Agriculture University to perform the job. So we hired six graduate students to carry out a total of approximately one hundred interviews. Each interview will be about one hour in length.

We had a very productive time going over the use of the digital recorders we had brought with us and how to perform an interview. The students are clearly very bright and picked up immediately what we are looking for and why the information is important. Essentially, we want to know what sources of information the farmers have and what they wish they had.

The students will be split into three teams. This allows for moral support and it allows one student to concentrate on the operation of he recorder while the other student carries out the interview.
