COMESA Market Information System Network - FAMIS

FAMIS, the Regional Food and Agricultural Marketing Information System is a project of COMESA (the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa). FAMIS is an electronic web based system that features key information on major agricultural commodities, trade and investment opportunities in the region. It aims at improving agricultural marketing through the dissemination of market information, policy changes and impacts in order to enhance decision making by all stake-holders thereby improving policy implementation in Member States. The system was designed by the International Institute of Tropical Agricultural, (IITA) under the auspices of the Agricultural Marketing Promotion and Regional Integration Project AMPRIP, a jointly funded project of the African Development Bank (ADB) and COMESA. The system has been designed to improve the availability of Agricultural Marketing Information in the region and to enhance competitiveness in the agricultural markets.
