Business Incubation Project in Tanzania is part of Incubator Initiative of the Information for Development (infoDev) programme of the World Bank. The initiative launched in 2002 aims at fostering entrepreneurship and private sector development in developing countries and is dedicated to establishing a network of incubators to facilitate the emergence and development of ICT-enabled small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries, Tanzania being among them. University Computing Centre, in partnership with the WorldAhead Consulting and the University of Dar es Salaam's Entrepreneurship Centre, submitted a proposal for a planning grant and was among seven projects in Africa that were granted the assistance. The project purpose in Tanzania is to plan for sustainable ICT-enabled business incubation that will also be part of Government of Tanzania'a SME development initiatives and proposed National Business Incubation Framework.
